KEITHVILLE, LA - Services for Mr. John Hardy Townsend, 70, of Shreveport will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday December 22 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Tipton, pastor of Grawood Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in For[e]st Park West Cemetery.
Mr. Townsend died Friday, December 18, 1987, at Willis-Knighton Medical Ceneter following a short illness. A native of Winnfield, La., he had lived in Keithville for the past 35 years. He was a retired machinist for Riley-Beaird Inc. He was a Baptist and Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Townsend of Keithville; three sons, J. Shelby Townsend, Lane Townsend, both of Shreveport and Rodney Townsend of Keithville; three daughters, Linda Ortega of Sulphur, La., Jane McGee and Deaninne Dean, both of Keithville, La.; two sister[s], Ann Jones of Bossier City, Jean Wilks of Lovington, N.Mex.; one half-sister, Bertha Gates of Winnfield, La.; one brother, Stanley Townsend of Shreveport; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
