Leonardo “Nayo” Torres, 83, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A Rosary will be said Monday evening at 7 P.M. in McCoy Chapel of Memories.
He was born April 11, 1934 in Sweetwater, TX. He married Ruth (Reyes) Torres January 10, 1952 in Sweetwater. He worked for U.S. Gypsum for 20 years and later for Holiday Rambler 9 years before retiring. He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater. He was a member of Holy Spirit Paris (Immaculate Heart of Mary) Catholic Church.
“Nayo” is survived by his wife Ruth Torres (65 years) of Sweetwater; a son, Richard Torres and wife Olivia of Sweetwater; a brother, George Torres of Sweetwater; two sister,; Victoria “Sadie” Abalos of Sweetwater and Pat Quirino and husband Lee of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Torres of Sweetwater and Samuel Aric Torres of Sweetwater; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Torres, Ciara DeLoera, Derick Torres, Angel Rodriquez, and Sammy Rodriquez.
He was preceded in death by his parents Florentino and Juanita (Ortega) Torres; brothers Cruz Torres, Pete Torres, Pedro Torres,;and sisters, Mary Torres, Demetria Jiminez, Juanita Vasquez, Elena Rivera, and Rita Gonzales.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Torres, Pete Torres, Jr., Joe Torres, Sr., Louis Torres, Buddy Lopez, Alex Martinez.
Honorary pallbearer will be Derick Torres.
