Juanita Torres (Nanny) Vasquez, age 97, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 21, 2017 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by David Mendez.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary) with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Juanita was born on April 10, 1920 in Sweetwater, Texas to Florentino and Juanita (Ortega) Torres. She worked for Walls in Sweetwater in the sewing department, Community Outreach Center, Dr. Peters, and Mrs. Hiram Melton for many years before retiring. She was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary) and the Guadalupanas.

She is survived by three daughters, Petra Adames, Rita Valdez and husband Joe of Sweetwater and Elena Hernandez of Denver, Colorado; one son, Daniel Vasquez and wife Joan of Sweetwater, numerous grandchildren including Joan Ann Villesca of Fort Stockton, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Torres and Leonard Torres and wife Refujia, all of Sweetwater, and two sisters, Victoria (Sadie) Abalos of Sweetwater, and Pat Quirino and husband Lee of Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florentino and Juanita (Ortega) Torres; husband, Felipe Vasquez; son, Philip Vasquez; grandsons, James Vasquez, Armando Vasquez, Ruben Hernandez, Jr.; granddaughter, Lisa Dawn Vasquez; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Andy Olvera, Jr., Simon Arrendendo, Jr., Armando "Mundy" Villesca, Jr., David Villesca, Manuel Adames, Jr., and Adolfo Deloera.
