William E. "Bill" Norris, 77, of Pampa, passed away on July 1, 2017 in Amarillo.

Services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Kyle Ohsfeldt of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Burial - Memory Gardens Cemetery of Pampa. Arrangements by the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Bill was born February 13, 1940 near Paducah, TX, one of nine children to Leander Grady and Beulah Edith (Wolford) Norris. Bill had been a resident of Pampa since early 1955 having moved from Crowell, TX with his mother and younger sister. At eighteen, in 1958, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy, Bill returned to Pampa and he and Gloria Beth Rasco were married on July 14, 1962. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2004. Bill's life work in Pampa was in the oil and gas industry, where he worked for Cabot and then Curtis Well Service as a rough-neck and driller. At one time, this work led him and the family to Nairobi, Kenya, Africa. He also owned and operated Norris Well Service and later Norris Consulting Service. Bill was a family man, very hard-working, honest, straight forward and direct who loved his family. For past-time and recreation he enjoyed camping, cook-outs, dancing and karaoke and was a very sharp card and domino player. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Louis, Leander "L.J." and infant brother Grady Norris; four sisters, Katherine Harper, Dorothy Hewett, Lela Beasley and Mildred Fulton. Bill is survived by his three sons; Grady Norris and wife Hope of Rising Star, TX, Clifton and Bruce Norris of Pampa; one sister, Naida Green and husband Thomas of Liberty, MO; two grandsons, Chad Norris and wife Kandice of Pampa and Christian Weinkauf of Brownwood; two granddaughters, Heather Ortiz and husband Mario of Grand Junction, Colorado and Brook Weinkauf of Carrizo Springs, TX; five great-grandsons, Tony Norris of Pampa, Elliot Ortiz of Grand Junction, CO, Danny Weinkauf, Stanley Weinkauf and Zachary Weinkauf, all of Brownwood, TX; close friend, Lou Terry of Pampa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
