Obituary-Howard Johns
Howard Johns, 87-year old farmer and long time Mayfield-Garvie resident, died Monday in Northwest Community Hospital in Mooreland, Oklahoma following a one month illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Quinlan United Methodist Church in Quinlan, Oklahoma with the Rev. Terry Tipps, pastor of the Mooreland Assembly of God Church Mooreland, Oklahoma, officiating and the Rev. Jack Winkler, pastor of the Mooreland First United Methodist Church, Mooreland, Oklahoma, assisting. Burial was made in the Union Cemetery under direction of Billings-Knittel Funeral Home.
Military graveside rites were provided by Mooreland American Legion Post No. 158 of Mooreland, Oklahoma.
Howard L. Johns was born December 23, 1894, in Clay County, Kansas to Ed. and Emma Anthony Johns. He attended Walker school in Kansas and in 1909 the family moved to Mayfield, Woodward County, Oklahoma and he attended school there.
He entered the U. S. Army in 1917 and received his discharge from the service in 1918. On September 8, 1920, he was married to Eva Wolf in Woodward, Oklahoma and they have lived on a farm in the Mayfield-Garvie area since that time.
Survivors include his wife, Eva, of the home; three brothers, Arthur and Roy Johns, both of Mooreland, Oklahoma and Walter Johns of Hutchinson, Kansas, and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Hopkins and Miss Ruby Johns, both of Mooreland, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services were held June 3, 1981 at 10:30 a.m.
Bearers were Nephews
Interment Union Cemetery, south of Quinlan, Woodward County, Oklahoma on U. S. Highway 412.
