John Riley Mounce, Somerset, died September 6, at his home on Duncan Street, following an illness of one week. He was born February 15, 1872.

The son of the late Carter and Siotha Meece Mounce, he was united in marriage to Lucinda Erp on January 26, 1892, and to the union eleven children were born. Surviving children are, Mrs. Ethel Mayfield, Mrs. Eva Dykes, Estel, Homer, and Oscar Mounce, all of Somerset, Hollis Mounce, Stearns, Otis Mounce, Colo, Mrs. Leecy Colyer, Danville, Mrs. Ada VanHook, Drum, and Mrs. Lena Meece, Ruth.

He was a member of the White Lily Baptist Church where he had been a life-long member and faithful in attendance as long as his health permitted.

Other than his wife and children, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sallie Sears, Cincinnati, Ohio; 51 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He leaves 153 direct descendants.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the White Lily Baptist Church with the Rev. H.J. Ridner and Rev. Lonnie Meece officiating. Burial was in the White Lily Cemetery.
