Oscar Mounce, 85, 769 Jarvis Ave. died Thursday, June 21, at Britthaven of Somerset following an extended illness.

A retired Southern Railroad employee, he was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.

Born July 14, 1898, in Pulaski County, he was the son of John Riley and Lucinda Erp Mounce.

Survivors included his wife, Irene Jackson Mounce; two sons, James J. Mounce, Somerset, and Gerald C. Mounce, Florence, Miss.; three brothers, Hollis, Ottis, and Homer Mounce, all of Somerset; four sisters, Leecy Shadoan, Danville, Ada Vanhook, Eva Dykes, and Lena Hunt, all of Somerset; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Estel Mounce, and a sister, Ethel Trimble, preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Denham Street Baptist Church with the Rev. J.S. New officiating.

Burial will be in White Lily Cemetery.

Visitation will begin tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company, which is in charge of arrangements.
