A Pulaski County native, he was born July 18, 1907, son of the late John Riley and Lucinda Erp Mounce. He was a former employee of Jellico Grocery, White Lily High School, and South Kentucky RECC.
Survivors include two sons, Howard (and Ruth) Mounce, Cincinnati and Johnny (and Helen) Mounce, Somerset; two daughters, Bernita Meece and Lucille (and William) Hargis, both of Somerset; a sister, Lena Hunt, Somerset; 12 grandchildren, Mike Hargis, Gary Hargis, Danny Mounce, Robin Harris, Sandra K. Stevens, Barbara Bullock, Sam Mounce, Tammy Schmidt, Theresa Muse, Angie Lowery, Jeffery Meece, and Tony Keith; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma M. Stewart Mounce, who died April 23, 1999; his parents; six brothers, Homer, Estel, Hollis, Oscar, and John Mounce, and an infant brother; four sisters, Ethel Baker, Lisa Colher, Ada VanHook, and Evie Dykes.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 8 at the chapel of Lange and New Brothers Family Funeral Home with Bro. Bernard Meece officiating.
Burial will be in White Lily Cemetery.
