William Hollis Mounce, 75, 737 W. Ky. 80, Somerset, died Saturday, April 19, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

He was born at White Lily on June 1, 1910, the son of the late John Riley and Lucinda Erp Mounce. He was a retired construction worker and a member of East Somerset Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hargis Mounce, whom he married on March 2, 1964, in Tennessee; a son, Sammy Mounce, Dunlap, Tenn.; three stepsons, Dorwin Hargis, Somerset, Donald and William Ray Hargis, both of Lexington; a daughter, Linda Daugherty, Pine Knot; three stepdaughters, Ruby Barnes, Faye Vaught, and Louise Phillips, all of Somerset; two brothers, Homer Mounce, Somerset and Ottis Mounce, White Lily; four sisters, Lena Hunt and Ada VanHook, both of Somerset, Evie Dykes, Ohio, and Leecy Shadoan, Danville; and three generations of grandchildren/step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oscar and Estil Mounce; and a sister, Ethel Trimble.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. with the Revs. Robert Branch and Edmund VanHook officiating.

Burial will be in White Lily Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
