Ira I Search was born in Morris Co, New Jersey in 1806, reported to be the son of William Search and Mary Ann Rose. It has been said Ira Search was first married to Elizabeth Hendershot Apr 19 1828 in NJ. They migrated west to Ohio and was found in the Franklin Co 1830 census where Elizabeth died abt 1840.
Ira Search then married Sarah Bailey Mar 4 1841 in Franklin Co, OH, and marriage record was found in Franklin County. From this marriage at least one son was born, William Jasper Jackson Search (1845-1922). Sarah Bailey Search died abt 1848 in OH. Ira Search married again on Nov 27, 1848 in Muskingum Co, OH to Tabitha Strait, daughter of Silas Cole Strait and Sarah Ann Atwood. From this union 7 children were born who lived to adulthood. Silas Calvin, Lewis Scott, Sarah Catherine, Tabitha Arilla Dorcas, Ira Filmore, Mahlan Luther, Chalon Alonzo. This family was living in Vinton Co, OH in 1880 near the time Ira I Search died in Sept 12, 1882, in Richland OH, which may be Richland Township in Vinton Co. This is according to Pension File submitted by his wife, Tabitha. Ira's exact place of burial is not known at this time and is being researched.
