Funeral services for Otho Kelly (Tony) Byrd, 55, Holmes County native and a longtime resident of Greenwood, were conducted from the Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, with his pastor, Dr. Walter Yeldell of North Greenwood Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Hollandale Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd died Thursday in Greenwood. He had lived in that city for twenty-seven years. He was an insurance salesman for National Life and Accident Insurance Company and owned and operated Carnaggaio’s Restaurant prior to his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Greenwood Rotary Club, American Legion and was a veteran of World War II.
His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Moton Byrd.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy H. Byrd; two daughters, Toni Powers of Fayetteville, N.C. and Tracy Byrd of Greenwood; two sons, John K. Byrd of Greenwood and Richard S. Byrd of Gillette, Wyoming; six sisters, Mrs. George Bunch of Samburg, Tenn., Mrs. Oscar Wynne and Mrs. Bill Rainer, both of Lexington, Mrs. Melvin Farmer of West, Mrs. Henry B. McClellan of Goodman and Geneva Byrd of Shreveport, La.; three brothers, Sam Byrd of Cleveland, Joe Byrd and Bob Byrd, both of Samburg, Tenn.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Billy Kellum, Billy Pickett, Jim Lipe, Ben Feigler, David Brewer, Bruce Gresham, John K. Gresham and Raymond Sanders.
