The body will lie in state at the Baer-Lange-Rembs funeral home until the time of the funeral, and a rosary service, in which the Catholic Knights will participate, will be conducted there at 8 o'clock tonight.
Mr. Herkert was born at Neudorf, Germany, on Oct. 17, 1849, and came to the United States on May 11, 1884. On June 11, 1887, he was married to Friedarika Haas at Columbus, Wis., and in the following September came to Marshfield, which has since been his home.
Surviving are five sons and two daughters, Charles, John, Louis, Albert, and Frieda, at home, Ed, Marshfield, and Mrs. Joe (Mary) Haun, Spalding, Nebr. Mrs. Herkert died on March 18, 1936, and a daughter, Mrs. Vincent (Anna) Berger, died on April 18, 1935. There are 20 grandchildren.
Mr. Herkert had lived at the Washington avenue home for 46 years.
