Joe Anderson, Local Merchant Passes Away

Joe B. Anderson, owner of Western Auto Associate Store here the last 11 years, died of an apparent heart attack about 10:30 last Thursday morning. The stroke occured as he was entering Dr. L. S. Key's office for treatment.

Mr. Anderson, who was 58, had been ill the last two months but had been able to work at the store.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church with the pastor Rev. Joe Webb and Rev. Ronald Clark of the First Christian Church officiating.
Burial was in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Godfrey Funeral Home.

Joe B. Anderson was born June 8, 1912, at Dexter, Texas. He came to Albany in 1929 and was employed in the oil fields.

He was married to Lela Whitworth here March 1, 1935 and they have made it their home since.

During World War II he severed three years in the Air Force being station at Carswell Air Force Base before going to the South Pacific Theater of Operations where he served more than a year. He was discharged as a master sergeant un 1945.

He bought the Western Auto association in 1958 and he and Mrs. Anderson has operated it ever since.

He was a member of the First Christian church.
