Lee Mae Gray, 99, of Abilene died Wednesday, January 29 at a local nursing home facility. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Albany Cemetery with Reverend Larry Millican officiating.

Mrs. Gray, daughter of Della (Ragsdale) and Benjamin Anderson was born May 12, 1914 in Lovington, New Mexico. Her father passed away when she was nine years old. Her Mother later remarried to Benjamin Mathis. She grew up in Delaware Bend, Texas and later the family moved to Albany, TX where she attended high school. She married H.L. Fraser in 1939. Mr. Fraser was killed in an accident in 1942. Lee Mae worked as an office clerk at Consolidated Steel in Orange, Texas during World War II from 1943 to 1945. In 1945 she married Claude Gray. After his death, Lee Mae moved to Abilene, Texas and worked at Thornton's Department Store for many years. Later, she chose to assist with the elderly in their homes. While living at Carver Apartments in Abilene, she enjoyed playing Bingo, attending Bible studies and gathering with friends. Mrs. Gray lived a lifetime of caring for others.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, H.L. Fraser and Claude Gray, and four brothers, Joe B. Anderson, Davis Anderson, Diamond H. Anderson, and Bob Mathis.

Mrs. Gray is survived by one brother, Billie George Mathis of Snyder and many nieces and nephews.
