Mrs. Harris was born September 8, 1922 in Brunswick County. She was the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Lennon and the seventh of nine children. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and homemaker. She encouraged family and friends through her caring and supportive nature.
Over her lifetime, Mrs. Harris was a devoted member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. She was also a Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school leader, participant in outreach ministries and active in all aspects of the church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roland T. Harris; sisters, Thelma Galloway, Mary Louise Hewett, Carrie Moore, Lucy Margaret Banks and Glenn Wilson; brothers, Earl Lennon, Frank Lennon and Clarence Lennon.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her grandchildren, Deborah (Les) Campbell, Ginger (Michael) Wilson, Melissa (Doug) Rohe, and Rachel (Jon) Gordy ; 13 great grandchildren, Ashely, Brittany, Dylan, Elise, Caitlyn, Shelby, Michael, Carson, Ace, Jax, Madeline, Charlotte and Atlas; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pate and Clara Lennon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Fayetteville with Reverend Rob James officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Lounge at the Church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson St. Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
