Glenn Lennon Wilson, age 86, of Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach and formerly of Rocky Point died Wednesday evening, April 17, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with family at her side.

She was born December 21, 1926 in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Robbins Lennon. Glenn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Boney Edward "Ed" Wilson, Jr.; infant Boy Wilson; and granddaughter, Tracy Wilson Lawson.

Glenn is survived by her daughter, Janet Lynn Wilson (David Young) of Hampstead; Randall Edward "Randy" Wilson, Sr. (Shirley) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Randall Edward Wilson, Jr., Patricia Wilson Hulcher (Clay), and Lisa Meredith Lamb; great grandchildren, Aidan, Melanie, Randall III, Patrick, Katie, and Mary; sister, Delphia Harris of Fayetteville; and many nieces, nephews and extended family all who loved Glenn.

Glenn was an active member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church where she had served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and in many other capacities in the church life. For many years she worked side by side with her husband, Ed, in the Wilson Grocery Stores. Being a giving and sharing person, Glenn served on the American Red Cross Board of Directors, was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the NC Food Dealers Association and was the proud recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award presented by Campbell College.

Glenn was not only a beloved wife and wonderful mother, grandmother and sister, but a generous friend to all who knew her. She never met a stranger wherever she went in her travels. She and Ed did love to travel, but her very favorite place to be was her Wrightsville Beach home where she and family spent many happy summers. Always with a smile on her face and a kind word to greet you, Glenn set a positive example for her children and grandchildren to follow. She was a strong, courageous and gentle woman who brought out the best in all those who were near and dear to her. Glenn possessed a keen intellect, sharp wit and engaging personality. Amongst the legacies Glenn leaves are the importance of God, family, friends, hope and love.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Riley's Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Herchenhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday at 12 noon until hour of the service.

With grateful appreciation Glenn's family would like to thank all of her caregivers, nurses and doctors that cared so diligently for Glenn.
