Mertie Olenchak Ealy Ramsey
Mertie K. Olenchak Ealy Ramsey, 84, of Chicora died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Caring Place in Franklin after a long illness. She had lived at Sunnyview Nursing Home for 10 years before moving to Franklin in March.
Born Dec. 30, 1919, in Moss Grove, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Robert H. and May I. Curtis Adams.
She had been a nurses' aide at Butler Memorial Hospital for more than eight years. She was a member of the former Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, Chicora R.D. 1.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Marie) Campbell of Chicora and Mrs. Larry (Loretta) Ferringer of Franklin; two sons, James Olenchak of Templeton R.D. 1 and Richard Olenchak of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. A sister and two brothers, Mrs. David (Lucille) Alsworth of Munhall, James Adams of Stoystown, Somerset County, and Charles Adams of Elderton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a close companion, Howard Edwards; a son; two brothers; three sisters, and two infant sisters.

Friends of Mertie K. Olenchak Ealy Ramsey, who died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. James Higgins, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chicora, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery, Chicora R.D. 1.
