Mr. Diehl was born in Belleville on August 17, 1883, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Diehl, nee Katherine Heisner. His mother was a native of St. Louis; his father a native of Germany. He never married.
Surviving are a brother and two sisters:
