Charles Alfred Holder, 83, son of Alfred and Ellen (Bandy) Holder, was born March 19, 1895, in Raymondville, Mo. and died June 24, 1978, in the Aurora Community Hospital, Aurora, Mo.

He was united in marriage to Alma Westerman on Sept. 12, 1912, at Yukon, Mo., and to this union seven children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alma, on March 10, 1974, and a son, Chloe, July 29, 1977.

Survivors are three daughters, Blanche Swearengin, Ash Grove, Mo.; Gertrude Coons, Hutchinson, Kans.; and Donna Armfield of Ballwin, Mo.; three sons, Herman of Yukon; Ervin of Eldon, Mo. and Kenneth of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Audie and Harvey, both of Houston; 26 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Holder spent his lifetime in Texas County, where he and Alma reared their family. He was a farmer and carpenter by trade. He spent many years in the Yukon community, later moving to Houston and at the time of his death he was living in Ash Grove, Mo. to be near his daughter.

He was a member of the Glad Tydings Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p.m. in the Big Creek Church with Mrs. Sadie Miles officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
