John William Holder, son of Alfred and Ellen Bandy Holder, was born Nov. 5, 1899, at Raymondville, and died January 4 at his home in Cabool.

On Dec. 8, 1919, at Walnut Ridge, Ark., he was united in marriage to Lessie Smith, who preceded him in death on July 1, 1951.

On Feb. 8, 1952, he was married to Velma Marie Hayes of Houston. Soon after their marriage he was united with the Christian Church of Houston.

In 1953 they moved to Cabool where he was a barber until his retirement seven years ago. He served as a deacon in the Cabool Christian Church for the past 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Velma; a daughter, Ermaline Reese of Springfield; a step-daughter, Alice Marie Foster of O'Fallon, Mo.; a step-son, Robert D. Edwards; three brothers, Harvey and Charles of Houston and Audie of Yukon and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted January 6 in the Cabool Christian Church with Forrest Wise officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry of Cabool.
