Charles Chloe Holder, 54, son of Charles and Alma Westerman Holder, was born Sept. 16, 1922, near Yukon, Mo. and died July 29, 1977.

He was united in marriage to Edna Kaighin Nov. 8, 1941, and to this union three children were born.

Survivors are his wife, Edna, of the home; one son, Roger of Houston; two daughters, Sharon Meusch of Rolla, Mo. and Sandra Manier of Houston; his father, Charley Holder, of Ash Grove, Mo.; three brothers, Herman of Yukon, Ervin of Eldon, Mo., and Kenneth of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Blanche Swearingen of Ash Grove, Mo., Gertrude Coons of Hutcheson, Kan. and Donna Armfield of Ballwin, Mo. and four grandchildren.

Mr. Holder spent his lifetime in Texas County, where he was a builder and contractor. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 10, 1943, to Nov. 9, 1945. He received basic training at Camp Fannin, Texas, and served with the 36th Division in Europe with the 141st Infantry regiment. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart.

He was a civic minded person. He served on the Ozark Township Board for two terms, alderman on the Houston City Council three consecutive terms. He was manager of the Babe Ruth Baseball team and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horses.

He united with the Big Creek Baptist church in 1952, and after moving to Houston, he joined the First Baptist Church, August 1959.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 6, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence Clark and Sadie Miles officiating. Burial was in Big Creek cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
