Mary J. (Bricker) Monn, 66, of 7032 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, died at 5:28 p.m.Thursday, March 3, 1994, in her home. She had been in failing health for the past month. Born July 18, 1927, in Quincy Township, she was a daughter of the Iate Chester R. and Helen C. (Noll) Bricker. She lived all her life in the Quiincy area, moving to her current home 41 years ago. She and her husband, George O. Monn, were married in 1944. He died on Feb. 20, 1989. Mrs. Monn was employed by Teledyne Landis Machine Co. as a laborer for several years, then by Waynesboro Cabinet Co. for a number of years in sanding and finishing.
She later worked at Hess Manufacturing in Quincy as a laborer for several years. She also owned and operated Monns' Grocery Store in Quincy for several years prior to working for Nells Food in Orrtanna, retiring in 1988. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Mont Alto. Mrs. Monn is survived by eight sisters, Lorraine E. Socks, Kathleen J. Woodring, Lavonne E. Wishard and Nancy F. Welch, all of Waynesboro, Geraldine P. Shockey of Tomstown, Shirley A. Feiser of Hagerstown, Larue A. Shaffer of Mont Alto and Carolyn L. Carson of Five Forks; three brothers, Chester R. Bricker anrl John R. Bricker, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Richard D. Bricker of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Gregory and Doris Austin.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Sterling C. Keeney officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one half-hour prior to services Monday.
