Born Dec. 27, 1925, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Chester R., Sr. and Helen Noll Bricker. She was a lifelong resident of the Quincy and Washington Township areas.
She and her husband, Samuel B. Socks, Sr., were married Nov. 21, 1942, in Hagerstown, Md. They moved to 14948 Wayne Highway, Waynesboro in 1960. Mr. Socks died May 19, 1987. She moved to her daughter's home on Manheim Road in September 1999.
During World War II, Mrs. Socks was a machine operator at Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro. She also did home child care.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. Atherton and Linda K. Sanders, both of Waynesboro; one son, Samuel B. Socks, Jr. of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Geraldine P. Shockey, Kathleen J. Woodring, Lavonne E. Wishard, Nancy F. Welch and Carolyn L. Carson, all of Waynesboro, Shirley A. Feiser of Leitersburg and LaRue A. Shaffer of Mont Alto; two brothers, Robert Bricker of Cleveland, Ohio, and Richard D. Bricker of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Barnhart, Mary Monn and Doris Austin, and one brother, Chester R. Bricker, Jr.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
