Catherine Haines Shipley, 82, of Westminster, died early Saturday morning, September 14, 1996, at her daughter's home in Westminster after an extended illness.
Born June 25, 1914, in New Windsor, she was the daughter of
the late Clarence Moses and Myrle Barnes Haines. She was the wife of Judge Lester J. Shipley, who died July 4, 1983.
Before her retirement, she was a seamstress at the Westminster Knit and English American Tailoring. She was a member of the Door to Virtue Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #94. She attended Grace Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn J. "Dee" Bowen of Westminster, a brother, Walter T. Haines of Westminster; two sisters, Margaret Bair of Westminster and Dorothy L. Rhoten of Manchester; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
She was predeceased by three brothers, James D. Haines,
William C. Haines and Gordon E. Haines; five sisters, Jane Owings, Ruth Fleming, Ella Barnes, Anna Crawmer and Mary Stack.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, at 11 a.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Dr. Frederick P. Eckhardt
officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Tri-Home Hospice, 80 Painters Mill Rd., Owings Mills, Md. 21117.
