The following is provided by Find A Grave contributor RunninonMT:

David Alexander Cockrell is the son of my 2nd great grandfather Thomas Jefferson Cockrell.

1st marriage to Mary Jane Starry, 12 Aug 1880, in Cass County, Missouri.
Five children were born to their union, all in Kansas - one does not have a Find A Grave memorial:
Arthur Harrison Cockrell
WWI Draft Registration Card - born 25 Feb 1888 in Eureka, Kansas.
Family Search, member submitted genealogy, died 26 May 1932 in Denver, Colorado.

2nd marriage to Pattie Jane Lambert, 03 Dec 1894, in Garfield County, Oklahoma Territory. Nine children were born to their union, all born in Oklahoma.

David is listed as "Alexander", 1 month old, in the Thomas J. Cockrell household on the 1860 census for the Franklin Township, Newton County, Missouri. He is also listed as "Alexander", age 20, in the household of his future father-in-law, George Starry, on the 1880 census for Wea, Miami County, Kansas, occupation is farm laborer.

From an article in 'The Enid Events', Enid OK, dated 24 Jul 1913: "D. A. Cockrell, who resides on his farm near Hunter, was an Enid visitor Tuesday and called at the Events office especially to express his opinion on the special tax levy for a free fair." It goes on to say, "...Mr. Cockrell is the father of fourteen children, ranging in age from 11 months to 22 years, nine of whom are boys and five girls. One boy and one girl are dead. Four boys and two girls are married, and Mr. Cockrell says it's just as easy to raise a dozen children as it is one. He is an advocate of big families and takes a pride in every one of his children. He says he can't do without any of them."

From the same newspaper, dated 14 Aug 1913, concerning the marriage of David's underage daughter to Wm. H. Herren: "Marriage Mixup Near Hunter - Preacher Marries Daughter of Alex Cockrell Over Father's Protest ---- D. A. Cockrell, better known as 'Alex', is the complaining witness, being the father of the bride, Miss Effie Cockrell." Effie was only sixteen years old at the time, the age of consent was eighteen.

Alex engaged in farming in the early days of his adulthood in Kansas and through the years in Garfield County, Oklahoma.

{This memorial was transferred with the birth and death dates already entered. On the 1900 census for the Noble Township in Garfield County, dated in June, David is listed as 41, born "Dec 1859". Other than this record, and as of May 2019, this writer has found no birth or death records that would confirm or contradict the dates on the memorial.}
