Irma Elieen (Bitner) Owens, age 86, of Ottumwa, Iowa and a former Centerville, Iowa resident, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center in Ottumwa. She was born the daughter of Vernie B. and Helena Louise(Sauer)Bitner on July 30, 1929 in What Cheer, Iowa. She graduated from the Cincinnati Community High School in Cincinnati, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd Vincent and the couple were later divorced. She started working as a Nurses Aid in Ottumwa and also in Home Health Care in many southern Iowa communities, then after moving to Des Moines, Iowa, she began working for many years for the State of Iowa at the Grimes and Hoover Buildings in Des Moines, Iowa.

Irma was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Harry Bitner; and two grandson, Shaw Leffler and Daniel Vincent.

She is survived by: her son, Steven Vincent and his wife, Cindy of Oskaloosa, Iowa; daughters, Janet Vincent and her husband, John Chaplin of Galveston, Texas, Beverly Leffler and her husband, Mike of Blakesburg, Iowa and Tracy Losee and her husband, George of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Bitner of Ottumwa, Iowa, Donald Bitner of Centerville, Iowa and Jerry Bitner of Bethal Park, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Chaplin Dan Smith officiating. Burial will take place at 1 pm on Wednesday, at the Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 2 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 5 pm until 7 pm at the Schmidt Family
Funeral home in Centerville.
