Elizabeth YORK was the first born of twelve children of John YORK and his wife Martha Jane WHITE. Elizabeth York grew up in the Sandy Creek Community of Randolph County, North Carolina. The James SWAFFORD and Mariam JULIAN family were neighbors. Their son William met and fell in love with Elizabeth YORK.
Elizabeth YORK age 20 married on 30 Aug 1813 in Randolph County, North Carolina to William C. SWAFFORD age 22. Their bondman was William FERREE per page 265 of the Randolph County Marriage Bonds. During the next fourteen years of marriage they had nine children. Apparently tragedy came to Elizabeth with her last child and name sake Elizabeth SWAFFORD on 16 Jun 1827 with her presumed death at child birth.
