Mr. Griffin is a graduate of Ocilla High School and a 1954 graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He joined Triangle Chemical Company, headquartered in Macon, GA, in 1964 and became a partner in 1968. He was company President when he retired in 2006. Mr. Griffin is a past President of the Southern Crop Production Association and served on the board of the Georgia Crop Production Alliance. In 2007, he was inducted into the Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame. In the same year, he received the Leger Agribusiness Award, given to agribusiness leaders in Irwin County, Georgia. He also served on the bank boards of The Bank of Ocilla and Ameris Bank.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Grantham Griffin of Ocilla; his children: Grant (Regina) Griffin of Ocilla, Donna Griffin of Edwards, Colorado, and Eric (Kelly) Griffin of Atlanta; three grandchildren: Mason (Ashley) Griffin, Austin Griffin, and Nate Griffin; and one sister, Wydene Tomberlin of Ocilla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur Griffin, Jr., Raymond Griffin, Clarence Griffin, Waldo Griffin and Wendell Griffin; and three sisters: Dot Mizelle, Mildred Davis, and Helen Cumbaa.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to the Ocilla Baptist Church Youth Fund, P O Box 101, Ocilla, Georgia 31774 and the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 225 E 2nd Street, Tifton GA 31794.
