Graveside services were held 2 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Tomberlin Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Mickey Harris officiating.
Mrs. Tomberlin was born July 16, 1933, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Arthur Griffin, Sr. & Sophronia Paulk Griffin. She was a 1953 graduate of Ocilla High School. Mrs. Tomberlin worked at Irwin EMC, McMillian’s Jewelry store and was a housewife. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, talking on the phone, reading and shopping. Her favorite was spending time with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Church was a big part of her life and she was a member of Henderson Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Deenia & Tommy Whittle of Thomaston, Dorrie & Buddy Woodard of Dublin, Duree Land, Diana & Matthew Garvey and special daughter, Julie Moore all of Ocilla; grandchildren, Mandi Cole, Scarlett & Lance Alberson, Joy & Josh Pate, Tamzy Jane Whittle, Tracie & Kevin Childers, Robin & Seth Brinson, Melanie & James Woods, Andy & Hannah Woodard, Evan & Alison Woodard, Donya Land, Micki & Jacob Edwards, Amber Garvey, Dillon Garvey, and Boone Garvey; great-grandchildren, Shelby Cole, Ben Cole, Brady Alberson, Katie Alberson, Laina Lee Pate, Lauryn Pate, Heather Ann Edge, Mitch Edge, Russ Thacker, Gage Fenton and Wesley Fenton; great-great-grandchildren, Scotty Land, Wren Edwards, Nate Edwards, Zoey Dru Edwards, Westlyn Edge, Stetson Thacker and Claire Woodward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stanley Tomberlin, a great-great-grandson, Weston Edge, six brothers, Wycliffe Russell Griffin, Arthur Griffin, Jr., Raymond Griffin, Clarence Griffin, Waldo Griffin, and Wendell Griffin; and three sisters, Dot Mizelle, Mildred Davis, Helen Cumbaa. Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
