Mary Emma Goodling

Mary Emma (Wolf) Goodling, 96, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Chapel Pointe in Carlisle.

Born March 26, 1919 in Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Catharine (Long) Wolf and the widow of Ralph Goodling who died in December 2006. They were married for 66 years on March 15, 2006.

Mary was a homemaker and lived on a farm growing up, worked with her husband on their farms and then retired and lived in Perry County for 20 years. She was a member of Sheaffer’s Valley Church of God, Loysville and a former member of Churchtown Church of God. Mary crocheted many afghans over the years and loved giving them to nursing homes in Carlisle and Perry County. She crocheted baby afghans for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved gardening and growing flowers.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Goodling and wife Corkie of Carlisle and Dale Goodling of Etters; three daughters, Janice Widders and husband Fred of Carlisle, Cathie Adams and husband Randy of Carlisle and Faye Goodling, Narrows, VA; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Chapel Pointe Nursing Home for the excellent and compassionate care that our mother received while she was in their care and to Hospice of Central PA during her last week.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle with Chaplain Steve Motter and Rev. Randy Zook officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
