ARTHUR F. OLIPHANT
Arthur F. Oliphant, 73, 319 Wilson, died this morning at 3 a.m. at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, having been ill for two weeks.
Mr. Oliphant was born June 27, 1909, Decatur County, the son of Bert and Chloe Hoffman Oliphant. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Eagles Lodge. He was married to Sarah Stribling, and she preceded him in death in November of 1971.
He is survived by one son, James Ardell Oliphant, Taylorsville; one daughter, Mrs. James (Patty) Franklin, Wilkinson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Arthur Oliphant Jr. and Charles Oliphant, and one daughter, Echo Oliphant.
The services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with burial in the Milford Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday.
