Roscoe A. Oliphant, Sr., 83, North Vernon, died at 11:08 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2006 in St. Vincent's Hospital in North Vernon.
Born, September 19, 1922 in Adams, Indiana, he was the son of Bert R. and Chloe Ethel (Hoffman) Oliphant.
He was a former employee of Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Shelbyville and he retired from Farmers Market Association in Denver, Colorado. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army.
He was married to Thelma M. Martin on May 22, 1942 and she survives.
He is survived by his wife Thelma M. Oliphant, North Vernon; 1 son, Roscoe Oliphant, Jr., Phoenix, AZ; 3 daughters, Mary Rigby, Columbus, Barbara (Butch) Merritt, Seymour, Yvonne Oliphant, North Vernon; 1 sister, Alice Hess, Greensburg; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Beverly Schwering and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Bob Weeks officiating.
Internment will be held in the Hebron Cemetery in Adams, Indiana.
