Lewis Allen, 60 years old, farmer of the White Wood section of the county, died at 10 o'clock last Thursday night [December 7, 1933] at his home following a lengthy illness of tuberculosis of the bone. Deceased was married to Miss Sarah Allen on July 26, 1894. To this union 8 children were born, 5 sons and 3 daughters, all surviving, except 1 daughter, Miss Gertie Allen. At the age of 20, Mr. Allen professed faith in Christ and united with the Poplar Grove Methodist Church where he remained a faithful member until death. He was one of the substantial citizens of the community. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sallie Allen; 5 sons, Roy, Charles, Willard & Edward Allen, all of the Colsby neighborhood, and Otis Allen, of near Badger; 2 daughters, Mrs. Albert Allen and Mrs. Roy Underwood, of near Hibernia. He also leaves several grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at the Otter Creek Methodist Church, the Rev. Atwell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
