Luther Russel Stone, son of Dr. Edward Stone and Eva Heslip Stone, was born in the Ida community, Republic County, Kan., on February 13, 1882.

On August 10, 1904 he was married to Miss Myrtle Striker. They were the parents of one daughter, now Mrs. Verna LeVitt. They lived in Salina most of their married life, with the exception of some time in this county and in Topeka, Kansas. They retired to Belleville in 1951.

Mr. Stone passed away, November 5, 1956 at the age of 74 years. He united with the Methodist church in Belleville, on profession of faith in 1951. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Salina.

Mr. Stone was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Lee LeVitt in 1942; also two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Herrington and Agnes Stone; and two brothers, John and Albert Stone.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; his daughter, Verna and son-in-law Gray LeVitt, a grandson, Michael, and his sister, Mrs. Frank Bachelor.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James Gray at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Chapel on Friday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in the Belleville cemetery.
