Mrs. Eva Stone passed away last Thursday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. R. Bachelor in this city, from kidney trouble, at the age of 65 years.
Eva Heslip was born at Linton Mills, Ohio, in 1845. She was united in marriage to Dr. Edw. Stone in 1863. In 1878, she and her husband came to Republic county. Dr. Stone died a number of years ago leaving his wife and five children.
Mrs. Stone has lived in the vicinity of Munden and Narka since her coming to Kansas and was one of the most widely known women in the northeastern part of the county. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. While living in Ohio she united with the Methodist church and has lived a faithful Christian life.
Five children survive their mother: Mrs. F. R. Bachelor of Belleville, Mrs. Hattie Herrington of Denver, Colo., J. A. Stone of Munden, A. Stone of Belleville and L. R. Stone of Almena, Kans.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Munden Sunday, March 9th, conducted by Rev. A. L. Semans of the Methodist church of this city. Burial was made in the Ida cemetery.
