Mrs. Walter S. Reed (Ella Mae Silverthorne) who passed away last week Tuesday evening at 6:30 at the Douglas county hospital was born in Dunseith, Minn., on July 12, 1886 and was 54 years and four days of age. when Mrs. Reed was 8 years old her parents moved to Cayuga, N. D., where they lived six years, after which they moved to Canada. Here she received her education and was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. December 26, 1906 she was married to Walter S. Reed in Olds, Alberta, Canada. After their marriage they moved back to Cayuga and lived there 2 years. They then came to Alexandria which has since been their home. Nine children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy. Besides her husband, those who survive are: three daughters, Dorothy, Mrs. George Helgeson of Alexandria and Winnifred of Vermillion and Wilma, Mrs. Wendell Melby of Evansville and 3 sons, Norman of Alexandria and Melvin and Gordon of Vermillion, Minn. Also four sisters and one brother, Hattie, Mrs. J. P. Benedict of Faribault, Dora, Mrs. Paul Woods of Olivia, Ida, Mrs. R. W. Cox of Willmar, Lillian, Mrs. Richard Chase, Alexandria and Marion, Cloquet, Minn. There are also two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m on Friday; Rev. L. H. Brattain officiating. Interment was made in the Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were Holger Hanson, Palmer Hanson, Leonard Hukriede, Cliff Angen, Arthur Peterson and Jim Johnson.
