-A. M. SILVERTHORN

A. M. Silverthorn passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Richard Chase, on Friday, May 8th,at 9:45 a.m. Mr. Silverthorn became ill while visiting his daughter, Dora (Mrs. Paul Wood) of Wilmar. As Mr. Silverthorn was eager to come home, his daughter, Mrs. Chase, and son-in-law, Walter Reed drove to Willmar and brought him back with them. Everything possible was done for his comfort until the end came.

Mr. Silverthorn was born in Pennsylvania April 10, 1856. When he was a child, his parents moved to Hancock, Wis. where he grew to manhood and learned the carpenter trade. When he was a young man, he went to Fisher, Minn., and followed the trade. Here he met and married Miss Minnie Andrews (sic). They lived at Fisher for a few years and then went to Alberta, Can., which was his home for many years. After leaving Canada, they resided in North Dakota for about one year and then came to Alexandria, which has been his home for the last twenty years. Mrs. Silverthorn, who was a nurse at Alexandria for many years and was well known, passed away November 24. 1925.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Silverthorn, six of whom survive. One daughter, Ethel, who was Mrs. Harry Walrod, passed away in 1908 (sic). The surviving children are, Marion Silverthorn, of Cayuga, N.D., Ella, (Mrs. Walter Reed) of Alexandria, Hattie (Mrs. Peter Benedict) of Faribault, Dora (Mrs. Paul Wood) of Willmar, Lillian (Mrs. Richard Chase) of Alexandria, Ida (Mrs. Reginald Cox) of Deerfield, Ill. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Hattie Ostrum, of Westallis, Wis., and one brother, John Silverthorn of Burlington, Wash.

Mr. Silverthorn was a kind and loving father and his greatest interest was in his family. He was a member of the Alexandria Methodist church. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Anderson Funeral Home and 2:30 from the Methodist church. Rev. Davies officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Bauman, Dorothy Landeen, and Albert Allen rendered several selections at the funeral, on of which was, "No Night There", a favorite of the deceased. Interment took place in Kinkead cemetery, The pallbearers were Axel Wester, Joe Moede, E. J. Brandt, Herman Winters, Al Dahlstrom and John O'Brien.
