Myrtle Samonds, 94, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
She was born June 21, 1900, in Springfield, the daughter of William R. and Etta May Sanders DeFrates.
She married Byron Samonds; he died in 1969. Mrs. Samonds was formerly employed by the B & Z Bakery.
Survivors: a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Bernice) Richey of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, Lawrence and Melvin DeFrates, both of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Dorothy) Townsend of San Jose, Calif. and Marjorie Thean of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel, Rev. LaRue DeFrates officiating.
Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park.
