Lillian Ramsey Fitzgerald, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Henry Fitzgerald.Born in Buena Vista, February 2, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William Ramsey and Clara Tyler Ramsey.
She was retired from Paktron and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Sammy and Roy Lee and three sisters, Rose, Alice and Barbara.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Jean Tyree and her husband Roger of Lynchburg and Rita Darlene Harris and her husband Pat of Evington; two grandchildren, Cody Childress and his wife Jamie of Charlotte, N.C. and Ryan Harris and Andrea Sobrado of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two great grandchildren, Jayden and Arbor Childress; three brothers, Grover Ramsey, Delmas Ramsey and Lawrence Wayne Ramsey; two sisters, Daisy Sears and Madelline Smith.
She is also survived by members of the Fitzgerald family whom she was very close, three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burnette and husband Leon, Bessie Shifflett and Betty Gowen and one brother-in-law, Pete Fitzgerald and extended family members, Jeff Tyree and Jennifer Castellano and husband Andy and their children, Morgan, Allison and Nicholas. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews with special love to Darnell Rios and husband Herb.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. today, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Celebrant Polly Starns officiating.
