Charles Pinkney Hamby, Jr. was called "C.P." by the family. He was born in Huffman, Alabama. His father was Rev. Charles Hamby originally from Copiah County, Mississippi and his mother was Louie Ann Williams of Bridgeport, Alabama."Uncle C.P." served bravely in the Air Force during World War 2 and then was a United Methodist pastor for a number of years. He was married a few times and lived most of his years in Southern California. Upon retirement, he moved across the border to Mexico to live out his natural life.His family will remember him for his winsome personality, his strong opinions on politics and religion, and the entertaining visits and calls he made to relatives in the latter stages of his life. No one was ever sure how much of his stories were embellished, a trait which is not unusual for a Hamby!Uncle C.P. died of cardio-respiratory arrest. He chose to be cremated and the remains are presently being held in Delia Villanueva, as instructed by his children.
