Harvey A. Guenther was born in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, on February 18, 1910, the son of Frank and Cecelia (Wilm) Guenther. Harvey was united in marriage to Martha Klug on August 18, 1931, in Garfield. After the marriage the couple lived and farmed in Leaf Valley Township for fifty-five years, until the time of Harvey's death. Harvey was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, served on the Church Board for many years, was a member of the Leaf Valley Creamery Board, and was a charter member of the Leaf Valley Fire Department. Harvey died on Friday, November 7, 1986, at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 76 years. He is survived by wife: Martha Guenther of Alexandria; sons: Harold Guenther of Parkers Prairie; Mark Guenther of Garfield; daughters: Darlene Wilke of Miltona; Lucille Schoeneck of Miltona; Vergene Uhde of Parkers Prairie; La Nell Schlosser of Miltona; brother: Leo Guenther of Parkers Prairie; sisters: Clara Patzwald of Alexandria; Adeline Barnack of Alexandria and Hildegarde Ziegelman of Alexandria Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Harvey was preceded in death by his son Carlyle in 1968, parents, and brothers Frank and Theodore. Prayer services were Sunday, November 9, 1986, 8:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Chapel, Alexandria, Minnesota. Funeral services were Monday, November 10, 1986, 1:30 p.m. at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Leaf Valley Township, with Reverend David Shadday officiating. Interment was in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Leaf Valley Township. Pallbearers were grandsons Rick Guenther, Chad Guenther, Randy Schoeneck, Travis Schlosser, Ronald Wilke and Tom Wilke. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
