Clara F. Patzwald was born in Ida Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, on June 27, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Cecelia (Wilm) Guenther. She grew up in the Leaf Valley area and attended school in School District No. 59. She was united in marriage to Herman Patzwald and the couple farmed and later moved to Alexandria where they were members of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Clara enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and flowers. She died December 23, 1987, at the Bethany Home at the age of 82 years.
Clara is survived by daughter: Mrs. Edwin (Florence) Hoppe of Elbow Lake; brother: Leo Guenther of Parkers Prairie; sisters: Adeline Barnack of Alexandria; Hildegard Ziegelman of Alexandria; grandchildren: Joan Granlord of Bloomington; James Hoppe of Powell, Arizona; Judy Wilke of Parkers Prairie; Joyce Blair of Lowry; and Janet Fischer of Alexandria. also surviving are seven great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was December 26, 1987 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. Al Ludwig officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Alvin Guenther, Roger Guenther, Kenneth Guenther, Dennis Barnack, Harold Hoppe and Wilfred Diedrich. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
