He loved to fish, tinker in his building and also wrote poetry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty R. Cobb; 4 children, Larry (Cynthia) Silkey, DeeDee (Jeffery) Morrison, Stefan (Sharon) Cobb and Ruth Ann (Jody) Keller; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lucille Walker and Mary Ellen Ingenthron.
Interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
