Mrs. Merna I. Slack -

Kingston - Mrs. Merna Irene Slack, 72, widow of James K. Slack, 5 Bishop Ave., Kingston, died at home on Sat. April 12, 1980. Born in Torbrook Mines on Dec. 5, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Norris and Florrie (Pooley) Banks. Surviving are two daughters, Eileen (Mrs. Douglas Wry), Yellowknife, N.W.T.; Jessie (Mrs. Ross Parks), Halifax; four sons, James, Calgary; Rudolph, Kentville; Frank, Truro; Roy, London, Ont.; five sisters, Mrs. Jessie Coleman, Kentville; Mrs. Maude Keddy, Torbrook Mines; Florence (Mrs. Perley Bruce), Kingston: Grace (Mrs. John Zampaloni), Welland, Ont.; Laura (Mrs. Phillip Johnson), Torbrook Mines; two brothers, Laurie Banks, Kingston; Robie, Torbrook, and 17 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Slack; and by a brother, Willis. The body rested at Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral service was held in Torbrook United Church on Tues. April 15, 1980 at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Beers officiating. Interment was in Torbrook Mines Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to charity of choice.
