Funeral services for the late Norris Leslie Banks were held on Tuesday, March 12 at the Torbrook Mines United Church, Rev. M.A. Barss officiating.
Mr. Banks passed away at the Walker's Nursing Home, Wilmot, on March 9 after a lengthy illness. He was born at Torbrook Mines eighty-five years ago, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Banks, and has resided in Torbrook his entire life having farming and mining as his occupation in his earlier years. In 1899 he married Florence Eliza Pooley, who predeceased him. The
deceased leaves to mourn six daughters, Maude (Mrs. Albert Keddy), Torbrook Mines; Jessie (Mrs. L.B. Coleman), Kentville; Merna (Mrs. J.K. Slack),
Bridgewater; Florence (Mrs. Perley Bruce) Kingston; Grace (Mrs. Robie Barteaux) Welland, Ont.; and Laura (Mrs. Phillip Johnson), Torbrook Mines. Two sons Laurie, Halifax and Robie , RCAF Lamacoga, P.Q. Also one brother, Burpee Banks, Torbrook Mines. One brother predeceased him also a son Willis, He has twenty grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Homer Noble, Clyde Neily, Guilford Payson and William McConnell. Interment took place in the Torbrook Mines cemetery.
