Richard was employed with the Peter Pub Brewing Co. and later with Madison Silo Companys Winona Branch for 37 years. He and his sons helped Erhardt Haake farm from 1962-1982.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred heart and St. Josephs Society. He also served in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1944-1946. He was stationed in Germany and served as a military police officer.
Richard was survived by his wife, Laurene of Winona; three sons, Richard Babler Jr. of Winona, David (Christine)Babler of Middleton, WI, and James (Kathleen) Babler of Charlotte, NC; four brothers: John of Winona, Matthew of LaCresent, MN, Robert (Beverly) Babler of Winona, and Charles (Birde) Hanson, of Houston, MN; and three sisters: Mary Ann (Wilford) Wilson of LaMoille, MN, Ada (Clarence) Wilson of Clinton, IA, and Anna (Helmer) Thompson of Hokah, MN;
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Ralph, William and Albert Babler, and Henry Hanson.
Richard died 13 Jul 1994 in LaCrosse, WI. He was buried in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Wilson, MN. The American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 conducted military services at the cemetery.
