Leibenthal -- Mary Pfeifer, 83, died Thursday, May 21, at Hadley Regional Medical Center in Hays. She was born April 30, 1898 at St. Peter, the daughter of Anna Elizabeth (Sauer) and Alexander Doerfler.

She married Alex Pfeifer May 7, 1917 at St. Peter.

She was a homemakeer and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Leibenthal.

Survivors include three sons, Celestine, Wichita, Joe, Hays, and Gerald, Liebenthal; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Florence) Matal, Liebenthal, Mrs. Paul (Caroline) Stecklein, Alva, Okla., Mrs. Francis (Armella) Schmidt, Cheyenne Wells, Colo., Mrs. Maurice (Marie) Schwartz and Mrs. Harold (Eleanora) Schmidt, both of Great Bend; one brother, Connie Doerfler, Enid, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Parenius (Julia) Schmidt, Northglenn, Colo., and Mrs. Isabela Lunger, Westminster, Colo.; 33 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Father W. L. Birzer officiating; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. A parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Janousek Funeral Home, LaCrosse. Friends may call from 9 - 9 Friday at the funeral home.
