Fritz Braasch was born at or near Hindenberg, Germany and died near Colony, Oklahoma. He served in the German army. He married Dorothea Nitzel in Germany on January 11, 1868. Fritz and Dora immigrated to the US in the spring of 1870 when their first child, Louisa, was six weeks old. They first settled in Waterloo, Waverly County, Iowa. In 1871 they homesteaded a place on Cub Creek...four miles north and one mile east of Jansen, Nebraska. A log cabin was constructed there that same year. It had a lean-to added later to accommodate their ten children. All of their ten children (excluding Louisa) were born in the Braasch Log Cabin, as well as several grandchildren and other relatives. Fritz was one of the founders of St Paul's United Church of Christ (Cub Creek Church) located 1/2 mile west of his farm...on the same section of land. He donated a part of his land for the church cemetery. In 1875, Fritz served as a judge in the newly formed Cub Creek voting precinct. His wife Dorathea died in 1910. She is buried in the Cub Creek cemetery.

In 1926 Fritz moved to near Colony, OK to make his home with his daughter, Minnie Braasch Weichel and family. She cared for him until his death in 1932. The following is from an Oklahoma newspaper concerning his death:
"Funeral services for Frederick Braasch, 88 years old, who died Wednesday at the home of his daughter near Colony were held at the Red Top Church and interment made in the church cemetery. Services were conducted by the Rev. H.D. Wiebe."
