Daughter of Alonzo Enoch Elrod and Susie Abston Elrod. Wife of (1st) Samuel Franklin Carter and (2nd) Bethel Larken Bussell.

Mary Vennie Elrod Bussell, 92, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 7, 2005.
Bussell was born Aug. 29, 1912, in White County, to the late Alonzo and Susie Abston Elrod.
She had worked at a shirt factory.
She was also preceded in death, by husband, Bethel Bussell; two brothers, Varris Elrod, and Jack Dempsey Elrod.
Survivors include five children, Thelma Jean Bussell and husband William Gambrell, of Cookeville, Albert Bethel Bussell and wife Floyce, of Algood, Edna Ruth Baker and husband Edward, Jack Daniel Bussell and wife Loretta Faye, all of Sparta, Madelyn Bussell Bennett, of Westmoreland; one sister, Mona W. Elrod Petty; two brothers, Van Henry Elrod, Roy Elrod, all of Sparta; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements:
Services were Aug. 10, 2005, at Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Carter Cemetery. Bro. Charlie Myers and Bro. Carl Sims officiated.
