Monie 'Sis' Petty, 89 was born April 24, 1920 to the late Alonzo and Susie Abston Elrod in White County, Tennessee. She passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Comer Petty, daughters, Florene, Henrietta and Susan Divozzo, brothers, Varris Elrod, Jack Demsey Elrod, and sister, Mary Bussell, as well as granddaughter Connie Glisson.
Her survivors includes her daughter,
Martha Mitchell of Ben Wheeler, Texas, brothers, Van Elrod, and Roy Elrod and wife, Louise; grandchildren, Marie Thomas, and husband Mike, John Divozzo and wife Wendy; Jason Divozzo and wife, Julie, and
Derek Divozzo and wife, Renee;
great-grandchildren, Helena Thomas, Abigale Divozzo, Rachel Divozzo, Sydney Divozzo, Mallory Divozzo, Drake Divozzo and Alyssa Divozzo. The services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009, at Thurman Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Doug Hill and
Sam Gardner. Interment will be in the Carter Cemetery. 'Sis' loved life, talking on the telephone, visiting with her friends, as well as cooking and quilting. Up until recently, she enjoyed canning and gardening. We will deeply miss her but she will always remain in our hearts. She was a member of North Sparta Church of Christ.
